  • Crowd‑pleasing — picky eaters, spice lovers, and cheese fanatics all win.
  • Customizable — pile on toppings or keep it simple.
  • Weeknight‑friendly — ready in about 30 minutes.
  • Party‑ready — perfect for game day, movie night, or Taco Tuesday with a twist.

💬 Reader prompt: Are you team “taco forever” or team “pizza ride‑or‑die”?

My daughter, Lisa, loved the Mexican pizza from Taco Bell but then they stopped making it! What to do, what to do! So on Christmas eve, we decided that we needed to add a Taco Pizza to the mix.

It’s our tradition to have pizza on Christmas eve ever since my kids were little. We used to order it and have it delivered so we could give the delivery person a big tip! It’s changed through the years because now that all my kids love to cook, they want to mix it up. It’s not usually your ordinary  pizza flavor but a pear gorgonzola pizza, or a sour cream beef enchilada pizza

NOTES:

You can make or buy pizza dough. Bakeries often sell premade dough for around $2. Your dough may range in weight between 12-16 ounces. If you like a thick crust, use a 12″ pan and for a thinner crust use a 14″ or 16″ pan. You could even use a 9×13 pan! I bought my crust from Smith’s! It was preformed, just not cooked.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 (12-16 ounce) pizza dough (depending on if you want thick or thin crust)
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning
  • 1 (15 ounce) can refried beans
  • 3/4 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeno, diced (remove the seeds and membrane for less heat)
  • Toppings: diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and sour cream

directions

  1. Let pizza dough rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes.

  2. While dough is resting, brown beef in a skillet. Add the taco seasoning, add water called for on the package, and cook according to the package instructions. Set aside.

  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Press the or roll the dough onto a 12-inch pizza pan or larger pan (see note).

Bake for 8 minutes. Remove from oven.

  4. In a small bowl, stir together the refried beans and salsa. Spread a thin layer onto the pizza crust. If you are using a 12-inch pan you might not need all of it. If you’re using a larger pizza pan or a 9×13 pan you will use all of it.

  5. Sprinkle with the taco meat, onion, jalapeno and cheese. Bake for about 5 minutes or until cheese is completely melted. Remove from the oven and top with tomatoes and lettuce. You can add sour cream to the center or let everyone top their own.

💭 Final Thoughts

This Taco Pizza is proof that comfort food doesn’t have to make sense to be delicious. It’s hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to be a weeknight dinner, a party snack, or a game‑day superstar. Plus, it’s the kind of recipe that makes everyone smile — and isn’t that the best kind of cooking?

Here’s the thing about mash‑ups — they’re never just food. They’re the smell of beef sizzling, the joy of cheese bubbling, the comfort of knowing you’ve got a meal that’s both playful and indulgent.

And this Taco Pizza? It’s a keeper. It’s cheesy, it’s zesty, it’s indulgent, it’s fun. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve turned everyday ingredients into something restaurant‑worthy.

But what I love most is how recipes like this bring us together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about eating, it’s about sharing. It’s about swapping tips, laughing over salsa‑splattered counters, and building little traditions that make life tastier.

So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you add avocado? Did you sneak in jalapeños? Did you double the cheese just because you could? (No judgment — I’d be first in line for that version.)

💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Pizza Mash‑Up Series” next? I’m dreaming up BBQ chicken pizza, cheeseburger pizza, and maybe even breakfast pizza.

Until then, may your crust be crispy, your cheese melty, your toppings plentiful, and your kitchen filled with laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about cooking — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.

And if you take nothing else from this post, let it be this: sometimes the best dinners are the ones that refuse to pick a lane. 🌮🍕
