The slow cooker is my best friend these days, especially in the mornings! Slow Cooker Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal will knock your socks off!

I’ve been working on recipes all week for things to do during the school week. I love oatmeal in the morning but I actually ran out the other day of the instant oatmeal. The boys have all been sick and we haven’t left the house and we have to make with what we’ve got.

Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal is my favorite and I also love apple cinnamon but we didn’t have any non cooked apples so I’m going to see how I can work those in next time!

 

Slow Cooker Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • cooking spray
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

 

 

Slow Cooker Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal

Directions

  1. Grease the slow cooker insert with cooking spray or you can use butter.
  2. Mix oats, water, milk, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt together in a large slow cooker.
  3. Place lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. For a firm texture cook only for 6, for a more soft texture cook for 8 hours. 
  4. To serve you can dish up the oats and top with more maple syrup, nuts or even fruit. I love strawberries or raspberries.
