Frozen Blueberry Yogurt — The Sweet, Tangy Treat That Feels Like Summer in a Bowl

If dessert could give you a high‑five, this would be it.

Some desserts are indulgent. Some desserts are refreshing. And then there’s Frozen Blueberry Yogurt — the magical middle ground that’s creamy, tangy, fruity, and just sweet enough to feel like a treat without the sugar crash. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’re winning at life: dessert that doubles as a snack, looks Pinterest‑pretty, and comes together with just a handful of ingredients.

We’re talking juicy blueberries, golden honey, a pop of lemon, and creamy yogurt blended into a swirl of frozen goodness. It’s simple, it’s wholesome, and it’s the kind of recipe that makes you wonder why you ever bought store‑bought frozen yogurt in the first place.

💬 Reader prompt: Are you a “scoop it into a cone” frozen yogurt fan, or do you prefer yours piled high in a bowl with toppings galore?

It has been so so so hot around here that all I do is dream about cold, refreshing treats!  This one is even better because you are using fresh blueberries and yogurt! Perfect treat and healthy on top!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FREEZE FROZEN YOGURT?

Wanting to know how long to freeze homemade frozen yogurt?  This totally depends on your preferences. If you want to (or simply can’t wait), you can serve frozen yogurt immediately. I like to transfer it to an air-tight container and place in the freezer for a few hours. I usually keep it in the freezer for 1-3 hours.

Since I also freeze my fruit before adding it and blending it, that process takes 2-3 hours as well – so make sure to keep that timeframe in mind if you plan to use fresh fruit and then freeze it.  If you already have frozen fruit on hand, you can just blend and eat!

Ingredients

  • 1 pint (2 ½ cups) blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • ⅔ cup honey
  • 1 small lemon, to be zested and juiced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups full fat yogurt, chilled

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and pulse until very smooth.
  2. Transfer to a freezer safe container (bread pan works best!) and freeze for 4 hours, stirring every hour.
  3. When the mixture has set around the edges and is semi firm in the center, you're ready to serve.
  4. Before serving, you can return the frozen yogurt to the food processor and pulse a few times so it softens/smoothens a bit, if you so desire!

👩‍🍳 Cooking Tips for Frozen Yogurt Success

  • Texture Trick: Stir once halfway through freezing for a softer, scoopable consistency.
  • Sweetness Check: Taste before freezing — honey amounts can be adjusted depending on how tart your berries are.

  • Serving Hack: Dip your ice cream scoop in hot water for perfect scoops.

🔄 Recipe Variations

  • Strawberry Lemon Yogurt: Swap blueberries for strawberries.

🛒 Grocery Hacks

  • Frozen Blueberries: Cheaper than fresh and available year‑round.

💭 Final Thoughts

This Frozen Blueberry Yogurt is proof that dessert can be both simple and spectacular. With just five ingredients and a blender, you get a treat that’s creamy, tangy, and bursting with berry flavor. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like a kitchen genius with almost no effort.

It’s also endlessly adaptable. You can keep it classic with blueberries, go tropical with mango, or swirl in chocolate for indulgence. And because it’s wholesome, it works as dessert, snack, or even breakfast (yes, I said breakfast — no judgment here).

Here’s the thing about frozen yogurt — it’s more than just a dessert. It’s a little scoop of joy. It’s the sound of the blender whirring, the sight of that gorgeous blueberry‑purple hue, and the taste of something that’s both refreshing and comforting at the same time.

And this version? It’s a little extra special. It’s creamy, it’s tangy, it’s sweet, and it’s guaranteed to make you feel like summer is always just a spoonful away.

So here’s my challenge to you: make it, share it, and tell me your twist. Did you go tropical? Did you swirl in chocolate? Did you sneak a spoonful straight from the freezer before it was fully set? (No judgment — I’ve been there.) Snap a pic, post it, and tag it so we can all drool together.

💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Frozen Treats” series next? I’m thinking strawberry cheesecake popsicles, no‑churn cookie dough ice cream, and maybe even a frozen s’mores pie.

Until then, may your blueberries be sweet, your yogurt creamy, and your kitchen full of laughter, love, and second helpings.
