Chicken Pot Pie Soup
🥧🍲 Chicken Pot Pie Soup — Cozy Comfort in a Bowl
“When the weather says ‘sweater,’ your kitchen should say ‘soup.’”

This Chicken Pot Pie Soup is everything you love about the classic comfort food — tender chicken, hearty veggies, creamy broth — but without the fuss of rolling out a full pie. Instead, you get a perfectly slurpable, spoonable version that’s just as satisfying, with golden pie crust toppers that you can pile on as generously as your heart desires.
It’s:
- Cozy — the kind of meal that makes you want to curl up with a blanket.
- Family-approved — picky eaters will be too busy dunking crust to complain.
- Flexible — make it ahead, freeze it, or swap in your favorite veggies.
This soup is perfect fall. I love chicken pot pie but the soup gives you the perfect ratio of soup to crust. You can add as much pie crust or as little as you want. We loved this soup a bunch.

👩🍳 Cooking Tips for the Best Chicken Pot Pie Soup
- Use rotisserie chicken — it’s a time-saver and adds rich flavor.
- Cut veggies evenly so they cook at the same rate.
- Don’t skip the flour step — it’s what makes the broth luxuriously thick.
- Season as you go — taste after adding broth and again before serving.
- Make crust toppers ahead — store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
🎨 Recipe Variations
- Herb Lovers — Add fresh thyme or rosemary to the broth.
- Creamier Version — Stir in 1/2 cup heavy cream at the end.
- Low-Carb Swap — Replace potatoes with cauliflower florets.
- Extra Veggie Boost — Add green beans, mushrooms, or spinach.
- Cheesy Twist — Stir in shredded cheddar just before serving.
🧒 Kid Tips
- Let kids cut out the pie crust shapes — stars, dinosaurs, letters of their name.
- Serve with mini bread bowls for extra fun.
- Offer a “build your own bowl” station with toppings like shredded cheese, bacon bits, or extra peas.
- Keep spice levels mild — black pepper is plenty.
🛒 Grocery Hacks
- Buy frozen mixed veggies — saves chopping time.
- Stock up on broth when it’s on sale — it’s a pantry hero.
- Use leftover chicken from another meal — zero waste, maximum flavor.
- Pie crust multipurpose — use extra for cinnamon sugar twists for dessert.
- Bulk carrots & celery — chop and freeze for future soups.
