In this post, you’ll find everything you need: the full ingredient list, step-by-step directions, calorie breakdown, nutritional facts, pro cooking tips, playful variations, and my final sassy thoughts. Buckle up, buttercup—these Cheeseburger Wonton Cups are about to become your new obsession.
We love lasagna at my house! After we would make lasagna for dinner, my oldest daughter, Jessica, would come home for lunch when she was in high school to eat the leftovers! This is a whole new version of yumminess!
These mini lasagna cups are way too much fun. They even have layers of deliciousness. They are pretty easy to put together too and only calls for a few ingredients. A lot easier to make and a lot more simple than a whole lasagna, but still the same great flavor. In fact, my husband couldn’t get enough of these and said they were better than my regular lasagna.

This is perfect for any time but especially Summer! Less time to make and less mess to clean up!

That’s why these mini lasagna cups are pure genius. It’s so easy to make and they’re conveniently made into single-serving portions.

LASAGNA CUPS
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 pound hamburger
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1 cup marinara sauce, homemade or store-bought
- 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese or ricotta
- salt and black pepper, to taste
- 24 2-inch won ton wrappers
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly spray 12-cup standard muffin tin or coat with nonstick spray.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet oven over medium heat. Add hamburger, onion and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the hamburger as it cooks; drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce.
Season cottage cheese with salt and pepper, to taste; set aside.
Fit wonton wrappers into each of the 12 muffin tins, pressing carefully to make sure there is an opening in the center. Fill each cup with 1 tablespoon ricotta cheese. Top with 1 tablespoon marinara mixture and 1 tablespoon mozzarella cheese; repeat with one more layer.
Place into oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the wonton wrappers are golden brown.
Serve immediately, garnished with chives, if desired.

Calorie Count
Total Calories for 12 Cheeseburger Wonton Cups: 1,920 kcal Servings: 12 appetizers Calories Per Cup: 160 kcal
Keep in mind these estimates are based on standard portion sizes and common ingredient brands. If you swap ground beef for lean turkey, use low-fat cottage cheese, or choose a lighter mozzarella, you can shave off calories without sacrificing flavor. Likewise, if you stack on extra cheese or tuck in a second wonton per cup, the count will naturally climb—but let’s be honest, sometimes extra is exactly what we need.

Recipe Variations
- Tex-Mex Fiesta Cups Swap the marinara for salsa verde or red enchilada sauce. Add a teaspoon of taco seasoning to the meat. Replace mozzarella with pepper jack cheese, and top with a dollop of sour cream and cilantro after baking.
- Slider-Inspired Breakfast Bites Brown breakfast sausage instead of ground beef. Mix the cheese layer with a beaten egg and grated cheddar. After baking, top each cup with a small fried quail egg or halved quail egg for that breakfast-sliders vibe.
- Veggie Deluxe Cups Sauté finely diced bell peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini with the onions. Omit the beef entirely or use plant-based crumbles. Stir in fresh spinach until wilted before layering to sneak extra greens into every bite.
- Caprese Cheeseburger Cups Use turkey or chicken for a lighter protein. Layer in fresh tomato slices and fresh basil leaves. Swap mozzarella for fresh burrata (torn into small pieces) and drizzle cups with balsamic reduction post-bake.
- Buffalo Ranch Cheeseburger Cups Mix buffalo sauce into the ground meat after browning. Replace marinara with a ranch–Greek yogurt blend. Top with mozzarella and, after baking, drizzle with more buffalo sauce and garnish with blue cheese crumbles.
- Pesto Beef Cups Stir 2 tablespoons of basil pesto into your marinara. Layer pesto-meat sauce and mozzarella, then top each cup with a small leaf of fresh basil after baking for an Italian bistro twist.
- Mac ’n’ Cheese Surprise Swap half the mozzarella for sharp cheddar or Colby jack. Mix a couple of tablespoons of prepared mac ’n’ cheese into the cottage cheese layer. The result? Gooey mac and cheeseburger bliss.

Cooking Tips
- Perfect Wonton Placement Gently pressing the wonton wrappers into the muffin tin is half the battle. Line them up so each wrapper is evenly distributed, with no holes in the middle. If a wrapper sticks up too high, snip the corners with kitchen scissors to encourage more even baking.
- Room-Temperature Ingredients Rule Let your cottage cheese or ricotta—and even the meat sauce—sit at room temp for 10 minutes before layering. This keeps the wonton shells from cooling down too much and ensures an even bake.
- Drain but Don’t Drown After browning the ground meat, pour off most of the grease, but leave a little fat in the pan. That fat carries tons of flavor and will help meld the onions and marinara together.
- Season, Season, Season Don’t underestimate the power of salt and pepper. Taste your cheese mixture before assembling, and give it a pep if needed. A sprinkle of garlic powder or a dash of smoked paprika can also add nuance.
- Layering Like a Pro When spooning your layers, use a small spoon or a piping bag (yes, really!) to control placement. This prevents overflow and gives you tidy, Instagram-ready cups.
- Cheese Melting Mastery If your cheese isn’t bubbling by 10 minutes, crank the oven to 400°F for the last 2 minutes. Keep a close eye so it browns but doesn’t burn.
- Cooling Patience Let the cups rest in the tin for 2–3 minutes post-bake. This brief waiting period allows the cheese to set just enough so they don’t collapse when you lift them out.
- Garnish for the Gram Fresh chives add color and a sharp bite that balances the richness. Snip them as close to serving time as possible so they don’t wilt or lose their vivid green.

Final Thoughts
Okay, let’s talk real for a second: these Lasagna Wonton Cups are the kind of recipe that will make you believe in food true love. They check every box—crispy, cheesy, savory, and utterly portable. Whether you’re shepherding a rowdy crowd through gameday or simply indulging in a cozy night in front of the TV, these little wonders deliver that big, comforting flavor in perfect single-serve packages.
But the magic doesn’t stop at flavor. These cups are Instagram gold, party conversation starters, and the reason your friends will ask for your recipe on repeat. Yes, they take a few more steps than tossing everything into one pan—but the payoff is more than worth the mini assembly line. You get that flaky crunch, luscious cheese pull, and perfectly cooked savory center every single time.
Meal-preppers, rejoice: these reheat like champs. Store cooled cups in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Warm them in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes, or zap them in the microwave for about a minute, and they’ll be just as scrumptious as Day One.
Hosting a gathering? Fill a platter with these alongside crudités and a few dipping sauces—ranch, spicy ketchup, or extra marinara—then watch them disappear in minutes. Want to keep things neat? Serve with tiny appetizer forks or toothpicks for fuss-free snacking.
If you’re feeling extra ambitious, set up a DIY “Cheeseburger Cup Bar” with an array of fillings: caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, pickled jalapeños, shredded lettuce, mini pickle slices, and an assortment of sauces. Let guests build their own expression of burger bliss.
