Cheese Manicotti with Meat Sauce
🧀✨ Cheesy String Cheese–Stuffed Manicotti — The Ultimate Weeknight Hug in a Pan

Some dinners are polite. This one jumps on the table, waves its gooey cheese pulls in the air, and shouts “Mangia!”
Yes, I’m talking about a string-cheese-stuffed manicotti bake that checks all the boxes: easy, indulgent, family-friendly, and just a little bit genius. You’ve probably stuffed pasta shells before. Maybe you’ve rolled lasagna. But stuffing manicotti with string cheese? That’s the kind of brilliant shortcut your future self will thank you for.
The first forkful is pure magic — tender pasta wrapped around melty mozzarella, swimming in savory marinara and topped with a golden layer of bubbly cheese. It’s equal parts cozy and celebratory. In other words, the perfect dinner for everything from Tuesday night chaos to Sunday family gatherings.
As I was scrolling through Facebook, a recipe caught my eye. The recipes always look so good but there times, they don’t taste good or the directions just don’t work!
I watched video once and tried to remember the steps of the recipe. I decided to try it. This one is actually so good and so easy to make. The hardest part is getting the string cheese out of the packaging!

you only need a few ingredients!
Prego is my go to marinara sauce but grab whatever blows your skirt up and down. I bet you have most of these ingredients in your fridge and pantry right now.
Why You’ll Fall in Love
Picture this: it’s 5:15 PM, and the dinner panic is real. You want comfort food that feels like you slaved over it, but you also want to still have energy to binge-watch your current Netflix obsession afterward.
Enter: String Cheese–Stuffed Manicotti.
Why it works:
- Less Mess: No mixing ricotta with a dozen herbs and eggs.
- Kid-Approved: Kids get suspiciously quiet when string cheese is involved.
- Crowd-Pleaser: Everyone loves a baked pasta moment.
- Make-Ahead Friendly: You can assemble early, bake later, and still look like a kitchen rockstar.
This recipe is basically lasagna’s laid-back cousin — all the flavor, less of the fuss.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray your baking dish with cooking spray. In a skillet, add your hamburger and diced onion and cook until the beef is brown. Drain beef, if needed.

Add the marinara sauce and let simmer for about 5 minutes. Set aside.

Cover the bottom of the baking dish with 1 cup of the meat sauce. Place one string cheese into each manicotti shell.

Arrange the shells on top of the meat sauce.

Cover the pasta with the rest of the meat sauce and then cover the top with the Mozzarella cheese. Let your heart tell you, how much cheese is enough! Cover pan with foil and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 10 minutes. Let cool for about 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

- Flavor Boost: Add a pinch of Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes to the sauce if you want extra depth.

🎨 Fun Recipe Variations
- Pizza Night Manicotti: Add mini pepperoni slices to the filling.

- Four-Cheese: Stuff with a blend of string cheese, mozzarella, provolone, and asiago.
👧 Kid Tips for Happy Little Helpers
- Assembly Line: Kids can unwrap string cheese, help slide them into shells, or sprinkle the top with mozzarella.
- Sauce Painting: Give them a spoon to “paint” sauce onto the pasta.
- Cheese Counter: Put them in charge of making sure every manicotti gets an even amount of cheese.
🛒 Grocery Hacks to Save Time & Cash
- String Cheese Sales: Stock up during back-to-school deals and freeze extras.

💬 Family Table Memories
Growing up, baked pasta was always the universal “yes” dinner — the one that brought everyone to the table without the usual “how many bites?” negotiations. There’s something about gooey cheese, rich sauce, and tender pasta that just says, “You’re home now.” This manicotti gives me that same feeling, plus the bonus of a clever shortcut.

This dish is weeknight gold. It’s the recipe you can make half-asleep and still have it come out looking like you planned a dinner party. And that first cheese pull? Absolutely worth turning the oven on for.
🏁
So here’s the game plan: grab a box of manicotti, a bag of string cheese, and let’s get baking. Minimal effort, maximum cheesy payoff — the way all good comfort food should be.
