🎀🍝 Bow Tie Sausage Pasta — Weeknight Dinner With a Fancy Flair

Creamy, savory, and just a little bit sassy — this Bow Tie Sausage Pasta is the dish that proves dinner can be both easy and elegant.

Bow Tie Sausage Pasta

Pasta night is always a win, but sometimes spaghetti feels too basic and lasagna feels like too much of a commitment. Enter Bow Tie Sausage Pasta — the middle ground that’s equal parts indulgent and easy.

We’re talking tender bow tie pasta (because yes, shape matters), savory sausage, garlic, onions, cherry tomatoes bursting with flavor, and a creamy sauce that clings to every fold of those little pasta bows. Add spinach for freshness, red pepper flakes for a kick, and suddenly you’ve got a dish that looks like it belongs on a restaurant menu but comes together in under 30 minutes.

Why this recipe is a keeper:

  • One‑pan wonder vibes — fewer dishes, more joy.
  • Flavor explosion — sausage, garlic, cream, tomatoes, spinach.
  • Family‑friendly — picky eaters don’t stand a chance.
  • Make‑ahead friendly — reheats beautifully.
  • Instagram‑worthy — bow tie pasta deserves a close‑up.

💬 Reader prompt: Are you team “spicy sausage all the way” or team “keep it mild and creamy”?

I love pasta dishes but I was in search of something a little different. You don’t see a lot of pasta dishes that use sausage. I’m a alfredo kind of girl and I do still love this delicious dish but recipe takes it to the next level!

Every time I get the ingredients out for a new recipe, my husband is always a skeptic. He questions every ingredient and how it’s going to go together. Every time!!!!

This dish was no exception!! As the house filled with glorious smells, his doubts started to fade away. He wants me to tell you that this has become one of his top 10 favorites of all the recipes I have made for the blog!! Yes! Even a skeptic can change their minds! lol!!

WHAT DO I DO WITH LEFTOVERS

You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave, oven or in a skillet on the stove. The pasta may have absorbed some of the liquid leaving it dried out. Feel free to add a bit more cream before heating.

Can I freeze Italian Sausage Pasta? You can but the pasta will be a little mushy. I would suggest freezing the sauce without the pasta.

What to serve with your pasta?

Garlic Knots

Sarah’s Salad

Roasted Veggie Blend

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pkg. (12 oz.) bow tie pasta
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. mild sausage, I used Jimmy Dean’s
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large package of cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1-1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves

directions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Make sure to salt your water.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet add the olive oil then cook and crumble the sausage and red pepper flakes over medium-high heat until cooked through and browned. Add onion and garlic. Cook until onion is tender. Add the tomatoes and heavy cream. Simmer until the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes. Add the spinach and cook an additional 3 minutes. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce. Sprinkle with parsley, if desired.

💭 Final Thoughts

This Bow Tie Sausage Pasta is proof that comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to be a weeknight dinner, a family favorite, or a “just because” indulgence. Plus, it’s the kind of recipe that makes everyone smile — and isn’t that the best kind of cooking?

Here’s the thing about pasta — it’s never just noodles. It’s the smell of garlic sizzling, the joy of cream swirling into sauce, the comfort of knowing you’ve got a dish that’s both playful and nourishing.

And this Bow Tie Sausage Pasta? It’s a keeper. It’s saucy, it’s creamy, it’s indulgent, it’s fun. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve turned pantry staples into something restaurant‑worthy.

But what I love most is how recipes like this bring us together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about eating, it’s about sharing. It’s about swapping tips, laughing over sauce‑splattered counters, and building little traditions that make life tastier.

So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you add mushrooms? Did you sneak in hot sausage? Did you double the cream just because you could? (No judgment — I’d be first in line for that version.)

💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Pasta Series” next? I’m dreaming up creamy Tuscan penne, skillet lasagna, and maybe even dessert pasta with chocolate sauce.

Until then, may your noodles be tender, your sauce rich, your sausage savory, and your kitchen filled with laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about cooking — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.

And if you take nothing else from this post, let it be this: bow tie pasta isn’t just dinner, it’s a lifestyle. 🎀🍝✨

  1. That looks amazing! I have some leftover sausage from another recipe in our freezer and this would be a perfect way to use it all.
