Air Fried High Protein Pizza Crust
🍕💪 Air Fried High Protein Pizza Crust – The Guilt-Free Pizza Night Hero
“Who says you can’t have pizza AND your protein goals too?”

That’s right, friends — this Air Fried High Protein Pizza Crust is here to prove that pizza night can be both indulgent and smart. It’s chewy, golden, and perfectly crisp on the outside, with a soft, satisfying bite inside. And the best part? It’s made with just a handful of ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
💬 The Backstory
I have a confession: I am a pizza girl through and through. Thin crust, deep dish, wood-fired, frozen — I don’t discriminate. But as much as I love a good cheesy slice, I also like to feel good after eating it.
Enter this magical crust. It’s made with self-rising flour and nonfat Greek yogurt, which means it’s naturally higher in protein and lower in fat than your average pizza dough. And because we’re cooking it in the air fryer, it’s quick, easy, and doesn’t require heating up the whole kitchen.
This recipe has become my go-to for busy weeknights, Friday movie nights, and even those random afternoons when the craving hits but I don’t want to wait for dough to rise.
The boys loved making their own pizza and this was so quick and easy. I made three pizzas in about 30 minutes. They ate their entire pizza and even Matt ate all of his and normally when I make stuff with nonfat plain greek yogurt he can taste it and complains that the flavor is off. Not this pizza. It freaking rocked!
Anyways, we’re trying to be a little healthier but if you have kids you know how hard that can be. My kids can be super picky and it’s crazy because I’m always making new and different stuff so you think they’d be used to it.
If you are what you eat then Sawyer is wants to be one big chicken nugget with ketchup. On the other hand Ellie will not eat meat all of the sudden and is loving all the veggies, fruit and breads.
Grey is finally trying new things on a regular basis but still has his picky moments. Eating healthy will continue to be a challenge, I’m prepared to try and get the kids on board. This pizza was a winner though for the kids!

Air Fried High Protein Pizza Crust
Ingredients
- 120 grams Self-Rising Flour
- 150 grams Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pam
Directions
- Mix the dry ingredients In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour, salt, and garlic powder. Give it a quick stir.
- Add the yogurt Spoon in the Greek yogurt and mix until a dough forms. It will be a little sticky at first — that’s okay.
- Shape the crust Generously flour a clean surface. Place the dough on top, sprinkle with more flour, and roll it out into a pizza shape, keeping the edges slightly thicker for that perfect crust. Use your air fryer basket as a size guide.
- Preheat & prep Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for a few minutes. Spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Dock the dough Place the dough in the basket and poke holes in the center with a fork to prevent bubbling.
- First cook Spray the top of the dough lightly with cooking spray. Air fry at 400°F for 6–7 minutes, until golden brown.
- Flip & brown Carefully flip the crust using a spatula and air fry for another 4 minutes to brown the bottom.
- Top & finish Flip the crust back over, add your sauce and toppings (we used light mozzarella for a classic cheese pizza), and air fry for 2 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

💡 Cooking Tips for Pizza Perfection
- Flour is your friend – The dough can be sticky, so don’t be shy about dusting your surface and rolling pin.
- Don’t skip docking – Poking holes in the dough keeps it from puffing up like a pita.
- Cheese last – If you’re adding lots of toppings, layer cheese on top so it melts over everything.
- Watch the last minute – Air fryers vary, so keep an eye on your pizza during the final cook to avoid over-browning.
🎨 Recipe Variations
- Margherita Magic – Top with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and basil.
- BBQ Chicken – Use BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce, add cooked chicken, red onion, and cheddar.
- Veggie Supreme – Pile on mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and spinach.
- Breakfast Pizza – Top with scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and a sprinkle of cheddar.
👩👧 Kid Tips
- Let kids roll out their own mini crusts — they’ll love making “personal pizzas.”
- Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes before air frying.
- Set up a topping bar so they can decorate their pizzas however they like.
- Sneak in veggies by finely chopping them and mixing into the sauce.
🛒 Grocery Hacks
- Buy Greek yogurt in bulk – It’s cheaper and lasts longer than single cups.
- Make your own self-rising flour – Mix 1 cup all-purpose flour with 1½ teaspoons baking powder and ¼ teaspoon salt.
- Shred your own cheese – It melts better and is usually more affordable.
- Stock up on canned sauce – Doctor it up with garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
