Homemade Brown Sugar
That moment when you are in the middle of a recipe and realize you’re out of brown sugar. You make homemade brown sugar!
I hate when I think I have everything, and then I start baking and I am missing an ingredient. I always worry if I run to the store the batter will dry out or it will mess something up if it sits too long.
Since we have been buying in bulk lately from Costco, I always think we have everything downstairs. Well I went downstairs and we didn’t have it. I then remembered that it’s just molasses and sugar mixed so I made my own. Here’s how you make it!
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 teaspoon molasses (add another teaspoon for dark brown sugar)
- Wash your hands. Dump together in a bowl, rub between your fingers until the molasses is spread evenly through all the sugar.

Really? Is that it? I have always wanted to try this. I get particularly tempted to just make my own brown sugar when mine gets old and hard! Thanks for sharing! Pinning. (visiting from the Happiness is Homemade link party)
