Delicious Cranberry Orange Bread

Tart cranberries and sweet orange juice has become one of my favorite flavor combination! Cranberry Orange Bread is a great breakfast or brunch, or even for dessert! This is the perfect quick bread for the Christmas season. Heck! It’s good all year!

My son, Ben, noticed one of my older recipe of Cranberry Walnut Bread. He asked me to make it for him because he has never tried a Cranberry Bread before. I can’t say no to any of my kids but I thought it was a great opportunity to give the recipe a twist! This is a great breakfast bread to serve for Christmas morning or even a perfect neighbor gift!


It’s sweet and bursting with orange flavor, but a touch of tangy from the cranberries. All I can say is YUM!!!

For the Bread
  1. 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  2. 1/3 cup whipping cream
  3. 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  4. Zest of 1 orange
  5. 1/2 cup melted butter
  6. 1 large egg
  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  8. 2 cups flour
  9. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  10. 1 teaspoon salt
  11. 2 cups fresh cranberries
  12. 1/2 cup chopped pecans
For the Glaze
  1. 1 cup powdered sugar
  2. 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  3. Zest of 1 orange
  4. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, whipping cream, orange juice, zest, melted butter, egg and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Gently fold the cranberries and pecans into the batter.
  5. Pour the bread batter into a greased 9"x 5" bread pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center of the bread should come out clean.
  6. Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes, then remove the bread to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar, orange juice and zest, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Mix until it is smooth.
  8. Once the bread is cool, spread the glaze on top of the bread. Slice and serve.
