I have always loved Poppy Seed Muffins and I love dessert bread. Put them together and you have a delicious Lemon Poppy Seed Bread! It’s a perfect and easy way to make a delicious dessert. It’s basically a no-fail dessert!
It’s Spring! Perfect time for a fresh and beautiful recipe! You will taste all the flavors in this incredible bread. The lemon smell will make you happy while your cooking!
- 1 2/3 cups flour
- 2 Tbsp poppy seeds
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp lemon zest
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup whipping cream
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan set aside.
Mix together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and poppy seeds. In a separate bowl mix together the sugar, cream, eggs, lemon juice, lemon zest, butter, and vanilla.
Add the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Bake for 45 minutes to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Everybody’s oven is different. Cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.For the Glaze:
Mix orange juice, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Add enough powdered sugar to make a glaze.
Poke a few small holes in the top of the loaves and drizzle the glaze over it.
