Slow Cooker Ham and Potato Soup
🥔🍖 Slow Cooker Ham and Potato Soup — Creamy, Cozy, and Crowd‑Pleasing
When the slow cooker does the work and you get all the credit, you know it’s a keeper.

Let’s talk about the kind of dinner that doesn’t just warm your belly but wraps you up in comfort from the inside out. That’s exactly what Slow Cooker Ham and Potato Soup does. It’s creamy, hearty, and loaded with tender potatoes and savory ham, all simmered low and slow until the flavors meld into pure magic.
Here’s why this recipe deserves a permanent spot in your rotation: it’s versatile enough for busy weeknights, indulgent enough for Sunday suppers, and cozy enough for chilly evenings when you need a little extra comfort. It’s the kind of recipe that feels indulgent but is secretly practical — potatoes for the heartiness, ham for the protein, broth for the base, and a little creaminess to tie it all together.
And let’s be honest: potato soup is basically the universal love language of comfort food. It’s nostalgic, it’s crowd‑pleasing, and it somehow manages to feel both rustic and elevated at the same time.
💬 Reader prompt: Are you team “chunky potato soup” or team “smooth and creamy all the way”?
We have been sick the 10 days and haven’t felt like cooking a ton and my solution when that is the case is always to make crockpot meals. We did smoke a ham on Christmas that was fantastic but since the kids were sick and insisting on snuggles I did not get a good picture for you guys!
We’ll do it again though because we loved it! The nice thing about cooking a nice big ham on Christmas is that we had a bunch of really good leftovers! With that we made this Ham and Potato soup. I did not add cheese because I didn’t want it to be too rich for the boys and for some reason they really don’t want cheese lately. I topped mine with cheese and it was great! Enjoy!
