Matt and I are always wanting to try new recipes! Let’s be honest I can not turn down chocolate. We were dying for a treat the other day but we didn’t want to leave the house, because it has been so cold outside.

I know, it’s December, it’s supposed to be cold, right?! I think I was born to live where it’s warm. Maybe San Diego? Anyways, we had all of these ingredients in our house so we made up our own chocolate chip cookie! Give these a try because we loved them!

Peppermint Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups butter (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • crushed candy cane, for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line the cookie sheet with rubber mats.
  2. In the bowl of the stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar on medium-high speed until light and creamy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Add the vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the mixer and mix until combined. Add the chocolate chips.
  3. Scoop by the rounded ice cream scoop on the cookie sheet. Bake for about 9 minutes. Or until edges are crisp. Allow cooling slightly on the cookie sheet. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

💭 Final Thoughts

These Peppermint Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies prove that comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated. They’re hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to be a weekday staple, a family favorite, or a “just because” indulgence. Plus, they’re the kind of recipe that makes everyone smile — and isn’t that the best kind of baking?

Here’s the thing about cookies — they’re never just dessert. They’re the smell of peppermint swirling, the joy of chocolate melting, the comfort of knowing you’ve got a treat that’s both playful and nostalgic. They’re the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve pulled off a baking miracle without breaking a sweat.

And these Peppermint Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies? They’re keepers. They’re savory, they’re sweet, they’re indulgent, they’re fun. They’re the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve turned pantry staples into something bakery‑worthy. They’re hearty enough to feed a crowd, flexible enough to adapt to whatever toppings you’ve got hanging out in the pantry, and comforting enough to become the treat your family requests again and again.

But what I love most is how recipes like this bring us together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about eating, it’s about sharing. It’s about swapping tips, laughing over candy cane‑splattered counters, and building little traditions that make life tastier. It’s about the kids sneaking extra bites when you’re not looking, the friends who ask for seconds, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing you’ve created something that feels like home.

So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you add espresso powder? Did you sneak in orange zest? Did you double the chocolate chips just because you could? (No judgment — I’d be first in line for that version.) Maybe you turned them into trifle for brunch, or gave them a holiday glow with white chocolate drizzle. Whatever your spin, I want to hear about it.

💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Cookie Glow Series” next? I’m dreaming up gingerbread cookies, red velvet cookies, and maybe even s’mores cookies.

Until then, may your cocoa be rich, your peppermint sparkly, your chocolate gooey, your butter golden, and your kitchen filled with laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about baking — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.

And if you take nothing else from this post, let it be this: Peppermint Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies aren’t just dessert, they’re a lifestyle. 🍪❄️✨
