Monte Cristo Sandwich
I don’t know who of you have been to Which
Wich, that sandwich place in Orem, but I really like it. When I went there last I got the Monte Cristo, and I thought that is a weird combo for a sandwich, so naturally I got it.
Those who know me, know that I am not much of an experimenter, but I had to know. Anyways, I loved it, so I had to figure out how to make it myself. There are so many versions it’s crazy! So this our own made up version of the things we thought sounded good!
Monte Cristo Sandwich
Ingredients
Sour dough bread
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of milk
2 tablespoon melted butter
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons flour
Turkey
Ham
Swiss Cheese
Dijon mustard
Raspberry or grape jam
Monte Cristo Sandwich
directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
We just made two sandwiches since there are only two of us. We sliced the bread into thicker slices then we put as much ham, turkey, cheese and mustard that we wanted on the sandwich. Matt put a ton of mustard on his, probably close to 2 teaspoons on each slice of bread, that was way too much for me, I put one teaspoon on one side. Up to you though, because he loved it (he’s odd but I love him)!
Then in a bowl whisk together eggs, milk, flour, salt and butter. In a shallow dish dump the mixture and dip both sides of sandwich in the mixture. Place on grease cookie sheet, bake for 8-10 minutes. Then with a large spatula, flip the entire sandwich and bake for another 8-10 minutes. It should be golden brown. Enjoy your sandwich with either jam, by dipping the sandwich in it! I really like this sandwich!!!
Ok, so I saw this and thought, hmm..sandwich made with french toast?…The picture got me, and it looks easy enough to make. I will have to try this!
Mmm this sounds good, I have actually never made these before…I think I will have to try! Thanks for sharing!
One of my favorite sandwiches to order! Maybe I'll be making some of my own now.
