The boys love when I make bread and they always happy to eat it. You can’t go wrong with garlic butter and parmesan. These are perfect and delicious!

 

 

ingredients

  •  cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk scalded
  • 1 cup unsalted butter divided
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry active yeast
  • 3 teaspoons kosher salt divided
  • 1 Tablespoon pureed garlic
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Scald the Milk Heat the milk in a small saucepan until it just begins to boil. Pour it into the bowl of your stand mixer.
  2. Melt the Butter Add ½ cup of butter to the hot milk and stir until melted. Add sugar, 1 cup flour, and ½ cup ice-cold water. Stir and check the temperature—it should be just warm enough to activate the yeast, not kill it.
  3. Activate the Yeast Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy and fabulous.
  4. Make the Dough Using the bread hook attachment, turn the mixer on low. Add 2 teaspoons salt and the remaining 4 cups of flour. Mix on medium-high for 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Shape the Knots Dump the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 12 equal pieces. Stretch each piece to about 6–7 inches and tie into a loose knot. Place on baking sheets, 4 inches apart.
  6. Let Them Rise Brush knots with water to keep them moist. Let rise for 20 minutes.
  7. Bake Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake knots for 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Garlic Butter Dunk Melt the remaining ½ cup butter and mix with pureed garlic and 1 teaspoon salt. Dunk the warm knots in the garlic butter and coat well.
  9. Finish with Cheese Sprinkle with Parmesan and parsley. Serve warm and watch them disappear!
