Greek Yogurt Pound Cake with Peach Topping

Pound cake is one of those timeless desserts that never goes out of style. It’s simple, it’s versatile, and it’s the perfect canvas for all kinds of toppings. But when you add Greek yogurt to the batter, you get a cake that’s not only moist and tender but also has a subtle tang that makes every bite more interesting. And then — because we’re not stopping at “good enough” — we crown it with a luscious peach topping made with orange marmalade and fresh peach slices.

This cake is:

  • Moist and tender thanks to Greek yogurt.
  • Sweet and tangy with a citrus‑peach topping.
  • Elegant but easy — perfect for dinner parties or weeknight baking.
  • Kid‑friendly — fruit topping makes it fun.
  • Make‑ahead friendly — tastes even better the next day.

💬 Reader prompt: Are you a “cake is best plain with coffee” person, or do you love piling on toppings?

I love making pound cakes in a loaf pan because it always seems to turn out and it’s a easy recipe that you can make for a weeknight dinner, after school snack, to a dinner that you are trying to impress!

I was watching the Food Network on Saturday and Michael Symon made a pound cake similar to this recipe, and I knew I had to try! Michael’s recipe had different ingredients but I knew I could make something special by being inspired by his dish.

Greek Yogurt Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • POUND CAKE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter , softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs , room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • PEACH TOPPING INGREDIENTS
  • 12 ounces orange marmalade
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 peach, pitted and sliced

Instructions

POUND CAKE INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a standard 9” loaf pan.

In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Continue beating and add the eggs, one at a time, scraping bowl after each. Stir in the vanilla and Greek yogurt.

Slowly stir in the flour mixture, just until combined.

Pour batter into greased loaf pan.  Bake for 40-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove to a wire cooling rack.

PEACH TOPPING INSTRUCTIONS

While the cake is baking, add the marmalade, orange juice and peaches to a sauce pan, place over indirect heat and bring to a gentle simmer for the flavors to meld together, 3 to 5 minutes.

Notes

I baked mine for 45 minutes. Since every oven is different, I would check it at 40 minutes and then every 5 minutes until done.
