Chicken Divan
🥦🧀 Chicken Divan — Creamy, Cheesy, and Family‑Approved
If comfort food could wear a crown, Chicken Divan would be sitting on the throne with a golden Ritz cracker scepter.

Let’s talk about the kind of recipe that doesn’t just feed your family but makes them cheer when they see it coming out of the oven. That’s exactly what Chicken Divan does. It’s creamy, cheesy, cozy, and loaded with broccoli (so you can feel a little virtuous while still indulging).
Here’s why this recipe deserves a permanent spot in your rotation: it’s versatile enough for weeknight chaos, indulgent enough for Sunday dinner, and impressive enough for holidays when you want to wow without stress. It’s the kind of recipe that feels indulgent but is secretly practical — rotisserie chicken, broccoli, and a homemade creamy sauce come together like magic.
And let’s be honest: casseroles are basically the universal love language of family dinners. Add a buttery cracker topping? Suddenly, you’re the hero of the table.

- 1 teaspoon EACH: garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley
- salt and pepper, to taste
- TOPPING
- 1 cup panko or crushed Ritz crackers or corn flakes
- 4 tablespoons butter
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a large skillet, add butter and vegetable oil. Once the butter is melted, add the broccoli, onion, and garlic. Saute for 4 to 5 minutes.
Gradually add in flour, make sure to stir to cove the veggies. Then gradually add in the milk while continuing to stirring. Add the heavy cream. Gradually stir in the chicken broth. Stir until completely smooth. Add in 1 cup of cheese and stir again until completely smooth. Add in sour cream and stir until smooth. Stir in the chicken bouillon powder, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste.
Spray casserole dish with cooking spray. Add the dry broccoli sauce to the 9x13-inch casserole dish. Sprinkle the chicken over top. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top of sauce. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Add the panko and toast, stirring constantly, until crumbs are light brown and toasted. Sprinkle topping evenly over cheese. Cover casserole with foil and bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly around the edges. Remove and serve hot.

💭 Final Thoughts
This Chicken Divan is proof that casseroles can be both comforting and crowd‑pleasing. With creamy sauce, tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and a crunchy topping, it’s the kind of recipe that makes everyone at the table happy.
It’s also endlessly adaptable. You can keep it classic, go spicy, or even turn it into a whole new dish the next day. And because it’s so easy, it’s perfect for weeknights, weekends, or anytime you want to serve up a platter of love.
Here’s the thing about casseroles — they’re never just food. They’re the smell of cheese bubbling in the oven, the sight of golden topping crisping up, and the sound of happy chatter as everyone grabs “just one more scoop.”
And this Chicken Divan? It’s a little extra magical. It’s creamy, it’s cheesy, it’s comforting, and it’s guaranteed to make you the star of any meal. It’s the kind of recipe that makes people pause mid‑bite and say, “This tastes like home.”
But what I love most is how recipes like this bring people together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about filling bellies, it’s about filling lives with joy, laughter, and connection. This casserole is the kind of recipe that turns an ordinary Tuesday into a celebration, or a Sunday dinner into a memory.
So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you go spicy? Did you sneak in extra veggies? Did you double the topping just because you could? (No judgment — I’d do the same.)
💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Casserole Series” next? I’m dreaming up cheesy enchilada casserole, tater tot casserole, and maybe even a breakfast casserole with eggs and sausage.
Until then, may your broccoli be tender, your cheese melty, your topping golden, and your kitchen full of laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about eating — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.
And this Chicken Divan? It’s ready to do exactly that. It’s not just a casserole, it’s a memory in the making — the kind of dish that gets passed around the table with smiles, second scoops, and maybe even a little friendly fork‑fencing over the last crunchy corner piece.
So go ahead, bake it up, share it with your people, and then come back and tell me how you made it your own. Did you sneak in extra cheese? Did you swap the topping for cornflakes? Did your kids rename it something hilarious? I want to hear it all.
