I remember my dad making these for us when we were little kids, and one morning I just had a hankering for some of these yummy fluffy things.

My kids really enjoy these and they are really fun to make on a Saturday or Sunday when you have a little extra time to make breakfast

Make sure you make our yummy Cinnamon Buttermilk Syrup put on the top!

German Pancakes

9 eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. melted butter

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pour melted butter into a 9×13 pan.
Blend eggs, milk, and flour together until smooth and pour into prepared pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Serve with fresh fruit on top or our Cinnamon Buttermilk Syrup!

Cinnamon Buttermilk Syrup

2 c. white sugar
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. butter
3 T. corn syrup
1 T. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Melt butter in a medium to a large saucepan, (the syrup bubbles when you add the baking soda so make sure you have room for that.)
Add the sugar, buttermilk, corn syrup, and baking soda. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring continuously. Cook syrup for 5 minutes after it starts to boil.
Add cinnamon and vanilla. Serve over the top of your favorite breakfast pancakes!

* Here’s a little tip for you! If you don’t have any buttermilk in the house, you can use any type of milk and add a little vinegar to it to replace the buttermilk!

  1. Visiting from the SITS girls ShareFest- this looks great, and very similar to something we order out at a local breakfast place. I think we will try this at home tomorrow for breakfast and see if its close to our restaurant fave. Thank you for the recipe!
