💬 Reader prompt: Are you team “chips and dip for dinner” or team “dip is just the appetizer”?
We love sloppy joes at our house! We have had sloppy joes for birthday dinners, baptisms and of course, family dinner.
When I thought about making a sloppy joe dip it seemed like a no brainer! Sometimes you want to put all that meaty goodness on your bun and all it does is fall off! Bam!! now you just have to dip your bread or chips into the bowl of heaven.

ingredients
1 pound of lean ground beef
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 small onion, diced
2 to3 garlic cloves, minced
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt and pepper, or to taste
a pinch of cayenne pepper
2 cups of chicken broth
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
directions
Place the ground beef, bell pepper, onion, garlic, flour, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in a skillet.
Cook on a medium heat. Break up and stir mixture as it cooks. Cook and stir until most of the moisture has evaporated and the mixture is crumbly and the meat is brown. Stir in chicken broth, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and bring mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, until mixture is thick, about 30 minutes.
Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler.
Top with 1/2 of the shredded cheese. Poke cheese down into the dip with a fork, stirring lightly. Top with remaining cheese.
Place pan under the broiler; until cheese is browned, and the mixture is hot and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
