Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake
🍊🍰 Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake — Bright, Fluffy, and Crowd‑Stealing
Let’s talk about the kind of dessert that makes people hover around the fridge like it’s their new best friend. The kind of treat that’s light, fruity, and just a little dramatic. That’s exactly what this Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake delivers.
This isn’t just cake mix and soda. It’s indulgent, it’s layered, it’s dramatic in the best way, and it’s the kind of recipe that makes you want to grab seconds (because one slice is never enough). White cake brings cozy satisfaction, diet soda swoops in with sparkle, orange Jell‑O adds indulgence, cream cheese frosting brings silky joy, and that poke‑and‑pour technique? That’s the mic‑drop moment.
Why this recipe is a keeper:
- Effortless elegance — pantry staples, bakery‑worthy results.
- Flavor fireworks — orange + cream cheese + whipped topping = dessert magic.
- Family‑friendly — even picky eaters don’t stand a chance.
- Make‑ahead friendly — stays moist for days.
- Instagram‑worthy — glossy frosting deserves a close‑up.

Ingredients:
Directions:
- Preheat the oven according to the box directions. spray a 9-inch pan with baking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, diet soda, and egg whites. Pour the mixture into your prepared pan.
- Decrease the cooking time by 5 minutes from the box instructions. The cake is ready if you lightly touch the top and it bounces back.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Using a toothpick, poke tons of holes into the cake.
- Mix the Jell-O with the boiling water and stir for 2 minutes or until it dissolves completely. Add the cold water and mix. Pour the Jell-o over the cake. Place in the fridge until it’s completely cooled.
- In a bowl, whip the cream cheese and whipped topping until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and mix until combined well. Add the orange juice, mix well. Pour the mixture over the cake and you can garnish it with slices of oranges. Now do your dance of joy!

💭 Final Thoughts
This Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake proves that comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to be a weekday staple, a family favorite, or a “just because” indulgence. Plus, it’s the kind of recipe that makes everyone smile — and isn’t that the best kind of baking?
Here’s the thing about poke cakes — they’re never just dessert. They’re the smell of oranges zesting, the joy of Jell‑O soaking, the comfort of knowing you’ve got a treat that’s both playful and nostalgic. They’re the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve pulled off a baking miracle without breaking a sweat.
And this Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake? It’s a keeper. It’s fruity, it’s creamy, it’s indulgent, it’s fun. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve turned pantry staples into something bakery‑worthy. It’s hearty enough to feed a crowd, flexible enough to adapt to whatever toppings you’ve got hanging out in the fridge, and comforting enough to become the treat your family requests again and again.
But what I love most is how recipes like this bring us together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about eating, it’s about sharing. It’s about swapping tips, laughing over frosting‑splattered counters, and building little traditions that make life tastier. It’s about the kids sneaking extra bites when you’re not looking, the friends who ask for seconds, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing you’ve created something that feels like home.
So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you add zest? Did you sneak in ginger? Did you double the frosting just because you could? (No judgment — I’d be first in line for that version.) Maybe you turned them into cupcakes for portion control, or gave it a holiday glow with cranberries. Whatever your spin, I want to hear about it.
💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Poke Cake Glow Series” next? I’m dreaming up lemon poke cake, strawberry poke cake, and maybe even raspberry limeade poke cake.
Until then, may your cake be fluffy, your frosting glossy, your oranges sweet, your cream tangy, and your kitchen filled with laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about baking — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.
And if you take nothing else from this post, let it be this: Low Calorie Orange Poke Cake isn’t just dessert, it’s a lifestyle. 🍊🍰✨

I do this same type of recipe but I use a Splenda cake mix. There is only one store in my area that carries them. So I try to keep one in the pantry at all times to whip up a simple low sugar dessert. My father in law is a diabetic so I was always testing alternative recipes.
