Healthy Snack Drawer

Healthy Snack Drawer is not only a lifesaver but a time and money saver too!

With summer upon us, I’m getting ready to be eaten out of house and home. Our kids are always hungry all day and I needed them to have access to healthy snacks that they could reach so I wasn’t constantly walking to the fridge. Now with Baby it’s hard to constantly get up and down, and feed baby. We have a large bottom drawer in our fridge and I have designated this to be the snack drawer. I have put a bunch of healthy options in here for the kids to snack on. I alternate different things that they’ll eat. It rotates, the number one hits currently are GoGurt, energy bites, carrots and fruit pouches. I’m sure next week it will be something different.

I’m getting a little worried about the kids getting the nutrients they need because Sawyer only ever wants to eat chicken nuggets. It’s literally the only thing he’ll ever eat. I know he likes other things but he’ll refuse to eat if it’s not chicken nuggets and this has been going on for like four days. Luckily the other two will eat almost anything else that I make. It’s exhausting because I just don’t even want to try and make dinner anymore because I don’t know if Sawyer will even try it, but also if the other two will follow Sawyer and start complaining. He’s started trying to fill up before dinner just so he can say that he’s full. Therefore, the snack drawer rule is you have to eat one of everything and eat all your dinner before you can have another thing from the snack drawer. I’ve put veggies and fruits and cheese in there so hopefully it’s well rounded enough to help him get the nutrients he needs.

Anyways if you are worried about what your kids are eating I recommend doing something like this for your kids.  Ellie is very much a grazer, she never eats when we are eating but she’ll go back to the table and eat later. Then there is Grey and he is obsessed with being fast and strong and good at sports so he’ll eat just about anything we tell him will help him accomplish his goals. This has worked out for us, give it a try!
