When you have kids it’s hard to drive far, especially when you have kids who get car sick easy. It’s hard to get hikes that they can make it all the way without dying. I know we probably just need to do even more.
You don’t have to travel far to go hiking. There are plenty of awesome hikes right here in the Utah Valley that you can take and still enjoy.
Grotto Falls Trail – Experience this 0.6-mile out-and-back trail near Santaquin, Utah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 17 min to complete.
This is a very popular area for hiking and walking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
Bridal Veil Falls Trail – Head out on this 1.4-mile out-and-back trail near Provo, Utah. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 32 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking and walking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

Battle Creek Falls Trail – Enjoy this 4.1-mile out-and-back trail near Lindon, Utah. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 8 min to complete.
This is a very popular area for backpacking, camping, and hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.
Stewart Falls Trail – The Stewart Falls Trail in Sundance, Utah, located near Aspen Grove, is a popular trail. It’s an out-and-back trail, generally considered moderately challenging, and takes about 1 hour and 47 minutes to complete. The trail is easy to find, well-maintained, and wide. Parking at Aspen Grove requires a three-day pass entry fee.
Cecret Lake Trail – Get to know this 1.8-mile out-and-back trail near Salt Lake City, Utah. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 1 min to complete. This is a very popular area for camping and hiking, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through October. You’ll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren’t allowed on this trail.
