This is part two, of my delicious birthday dinner!!! I have always LOVED Chicken Cordon Bleu!! Not all recipes are the same of this great chicken entrée because the sauce makes the dish.
Jessica is very picky about her cooking because she wants to make delicious meals for her family and friends. She made sure this was up to her standards. This looks really fancy and difficult to make but the truth is that its really easy.
Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe
Ingredients
Chicken:
-
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
-
6 slices Swiss cheese
-
6 slices ham
-
½ cup flour
-
2 eggs, whipped
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1 teaspoon pepper
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
Panko bread crumbs
Sauce:
-
½ cup butter
-
2 tablespoons flour
-
1 clove garlic, minced
-
1 cup milk
-
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
2 teaspoons fresh parsley, chopped
-
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
-
1 teaspoon chicken bouillon, crushed
Directions
Step 1: Prep the Chicken
Pound chicken breasts until evenly thin. This helps them cook evenly and roll easily.
Place one slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of ham onto each breast.
Roll tightly and secure with toothpicks.
(Pro tip: tuck the sides in like you’re wrapping a burrito.)
Step 2: Set Up Breading Station
In one dish: flour + salt + pepper + garlic powder + onion powder.
In second dish: whipped eggs.
In third dish: Panko breadcrumbs.
Coat each rolled chicken breast in flour → egg → breadcrumbs.
Let rest 30 minutes so coating adheres.
(Yes, patience matters here.)
Step 3: Bake
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Place chicken in baking dish.
Lightly spray tops with non-stick spray for golden browning.
Bake 45 minutes or until internal temp reaches 165°F and juices run clear.
