Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein

Noodles are the universal love language of cozy kitchens. They’re hearty, they’re filling, and they’re always hanging out in the background waiting to be turned into something fabulous. But let’s be honest: not all noodle recipes are created equal. Some are dry, some are bland, and some are just… beige. Enter Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein — the glow‑up version of comfort food meets Asian‑inspired flavor.

This recipe is indulgent in its own way: it’s sticky, it’s savory, and it’s the kind of dish that makes you want to grab seconds (because one bowl is never enough). Chicken brings hearty satisfaction, teriyaki sauce swoops in like the sweet‑savory crown jewel, noodles add comfort, veggies bring freshness, and sesame seeds? That’s the mic‑drop moment.

Why this recipe is a keeper:

  • Effortless elegance — pantry staples, restaurant‑worthy results.

  • Flavor fireworks — chicken + teriyaki + noodles = chow mein magic.

  • Family‑friendly — picky eaters don’t stand a chance.

  • Make‑ahead friendly — reheats beautifully.

  • Instagram‑worthy — glossy noodles deserve a close‑up.

💬 Reader prompt: Are you team “saucy noodles forever” or team “light stir‑fry only”?

Family time in our house is all of us hanging out in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Which is not very conducive for a bunch of people who don’t love to clean, but love a clean house.

Yeah this recipe was not too hard or too messy. I swear I always crave Chinese food, but most Chinese food leaves me feeling blah! Except, PF Changs obviously, this recipe was super delicious and tasted clean.

Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Chicken breast, cubed
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Teriyaki, divided, I use Veri Veri Teriyaki
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 6 oz. pan fried noodles
  • 3/4 cup onion sliced
  • 1/2 cup carrot, julienned
  • 1 cup broccoli floret
  • 1 cup cabbage

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, season the cubed chicken with salt and pepper. Add 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce and mix until the chicken in well-coated. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. In a deep skillet on medium high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and then add pan fried noodles. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the noodles to crisp, then flip and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, then add the chicken. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until browned on one side, then stir and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, until chicken is cooked through. Set aside
  4. In the same pan, heat another tablespoon of oil, the onion, and carrots. Cook for 3 minutes or until the onions are translucent. Add the broccoli and cabbage. Stir and cook for 2 minutes then season with salt and pepper and cook for 3 minutes more, until the vegetables are soft.
  5. Add the cooked chicken and crispy noodles back to the pan, along with another 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce. Toss well and cook for 3 minutes.

💭 Final Thoughts

This Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein is proof that comfort food doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to be a weekday staple, a family favorite, or a “just because” indulgence. Plus, it’s the kind of recipe that makes everyone smile — and isn’t that the best kind of cooking?

Here’s the thing about chow mein — it’s never just noodles. It’s the smell of teriyaki sizzling, the joy of veggies crisping, the comfort of knowing you’ve got a dish that’s both playful and nostalgic. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve pulled off a dinner miracle without breaking a sweat.

And this Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein? It’s a keeper. It’s savory, it’s sticky, it’s indulgent, it’s fun. It’s the kind of recipe that makes you feel like you’ve turned pantry staples into something restaurant‑worthy. It’s hearty enough to feed a crowd, flexible enough to adapt to whatever toppings you’ve got hanging out in the fridge, and comforting enough to become the dish your family requests again and again.

But what I love most is how recipes like this bring us together. Food has that magic — it’s not just about eating, it’s about sharing. It’s about swapping tips, laughing over sauce‑splattered counters, and building little traditions that make life tastier. It’s about the kids sneaking extra bites when you’re not looking, the friends who ask for seconds, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing you’ve created something that feels like home.

So here’s my challenge to you: make this dish, share it with your people, and then tell me your twist. Did you add jalapeños? Did you sneak in mushrooms? Did you double the sauce just because you could? (No judgment — I’d be first in line for that version.) Maybe you turned it into mini casseroles for portion control, or gave it a holiday glow with roasted peppers. Whatever your spin, I want to hear about it.

💬 Reader prompt: Should we do a “Noodle Glow Series” next? I’m dreaming up sesame noodles, garlic butter ramen, and maybe even peanut Thai noodles.

Until then, may your chicken be juicy, your noodles glossy, your teriyaki sticky, and your kitchen filled with laughter, love, and second helpings. Because at the end of the day, recipes like this aren’t just about cooking — they’re about celebrating the little joys that make life delicious.

And if you take nothing else from this post, let it be this: Teriyaki Chicken Chow Mein isn’t just dinner, it’s a lifestyle. 🍜🍗✨
