10 Ways To Jumpstart Your Life! Anyone that knows me, knows that I HATE January! I don’t know if it’s because of the letdown from the holidays or the super cold weather we have in Utah. All I know is that I have to find ways to pump myself up and look at all the possibilities for the New Year.
I have a great life but I always want to be moving forward and setting some goals are a great way to start! I have thought of 10 ways to jumpstart your life in 2017. It’s for me but hopefully, you will find something that will motivate you in your life.
10 Ways To Jumpstart Your Life
1. Check Yourself:
I read a motto; ” The only easy day was yesterday.” Start a personal challenge to aspire towards every day. It could be something as easy as opening the door for someone else, or not eating another piece of chocolate cake. Whatever you do, aim to stretch your mental rubber band, and pushing yourself a little farther each day. There is no growth, no learning, and no improvement, if you don’t push yourself.
2. Cut Down On The Clutter
One surprising cause of stress? Having too much stuff! A cluttered and disorganized living space can actually make you miserable. The more you are organized at home and in your life will help you be more happy!
3. Give Back
Volunteering lets you experience emotions on another level. I know when I take the time to give back, I learn so much more about myself. It can be as simple as going to your local food bank or as exotic as traveling to another country.
Adaptability builds resilience. Everything isn’t going to go your way each and every time, and sitting there feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to change the situation. To adapt means to re design something into a suitable circumstance.
5. Take Time To Get To Know Yourself
How many times have you been asked by someone “what do you like to do?’ I don’t know about you but, as a mom, I think about everything I love to do that involves my family and I don’t focus on WHAT makes me, me! Take a few minutes in your busy schedule to get to know yourself.
6. Be Proud Of Who You Are
I have always loved to plan and create. When I was a tween, I was in charge of an event for my church group and my mind went crazy. When I told the adults of my amazing plans, I was told they were too big and would be too hard to pull off. So for years, I stopped going as “big” as I wanted to go because I didn’t want someone to think I was showing off. I have learned that my love of planning and creating make me who I am, and if someone doesn’t like what I do, bless their hearts!
7. Make a Healthy Game Plan
January 1st rolls around and a lot of us make the resolution to eat better. I don’t know if you’re like me, but I always break my plan. I want to be my best and one way is to feel better. So I have decided to pick something simple like adding a extra glass of water to each meal, or parking at the back of the parking lot, (even if there is a foot of snow). Simple things can make such a big difference.
Practice your values, exercise your best behaviors. If we don’t practice, things tend to fade away. Ben Franklin used to assign himself a value to practice every day in his quest for moral perfection.
9. It’s Not Failure, It’s a Learning Moment
Failure is a mindset! I believe every experience helps mold you into who you are. You can either choose to feel like a failure or you can learn from the experience and become a better person.
10. Grateful Moment
I don’t know if you remember Oprah telling everyone to start a gratitude journal when she had her talk show, but I have tried to do this through my life. It’s so easy to focus on the negative things going on but when you take a moment to think about the good, it changes everything around you. I usually try to think of at least 5 things that were amazing. This is great to do with your kids when they come home from school too.
