Homemade Pizza Equals Happy Kids

We love making homemade pizza at our house, especially since my two-year-old Cooper loves playing the chef. There is nothing more exciting to him then getting to put on the ingredients and see his creation go into the oven. Homemade pizza is the best meal for him to help with because he can’t really mess it up, even if the pepperoni’s are a little out of place!

I have never been one of those people who loves spending a lot of time in the kitchen but my husband could be a chef if he wanted to. It appears that my son got my husband’s knack for cooking as well, so even though I’m not much of a cook, I love spending time cooking with them! Letting our son help us cook is a great way for us to build his confidence as well as get something done during quality time together.

Our secret to great homemade pizza is adding a little garlic salt to the crust! It gives you breadsticks and pizza all in one! Mama Mary’s® Pizza Crust is awesome because it is pre-made, cooks really quick, and tastes delicious. It is the perfect addition to homemade pizza.

If you have a little chef in your house then you’re going to love this! DEX, by Sheri Lynn Fishbach, is a cute book for tweens all about a gawky, lovesick amateur chef who opens a gourmet lunch stand on his lawn. I am pretty sure this will be the dream of my two-year-old someday. The book has received a lot of praise included this snippet from Kirkus, “References to cookies, cakes, sweet and savory sauces, sumptuous platters, gourmet pizzas, and other mouthwatering fare that Fishbach energetically stirs into her fast and funny tale.” It would make a great Christmas gift for your tween chef!

Ps. On specially marked packages of Mama Mary’s Pizza Crust from October through November at Walmart stores nationally, there will be a fold-out booklet with more than $5 in coupon in savings from Mama Mary’s Pizza Crusts and Pepperoni, Dole® Pineapple, Cabot® Cheese, Kikkoman® Teriyaki, Barilla® Sauce, and Filippo Berio® Olive Oil…PLUS some great recipes! Enjoy national pizza month!!
