Star Wars Cupcakes

Star Wars Cupcakes!!

Star Wars Cupcakes

Happy Thanksgiving my friends! In honor of the Star Wars The Force Awakens coming out in December, I thought I’d show you our sweet Star Wars cupcake ideas.

We did Stars Wars night for our Young Women in Excellence night. I know it sounds different but it turned out really well. I’m so glad that our leaders and young women are willing to branch out and come up with some really fun ideas!

I was lucky to be put in charge of the cupcakes, I LOVE making cupcakes and trying to make them cute. My nephew Max is a Star Wars man, he has even called me a time or two quizzing’s me on Star Wars knowledge.

I have no clue the answers, but he was impressed with my mad skills on these cupcakes.

I wanted to do a dark side cupcake and Jedi side cupcake. What I did was make a red velvet cupcake and a green velvet cupcake. I used Kimmer’s red velvet cupcake recipe, click here to use it.

The only thing I changed was the food coloring from red to green for the Jedi cupcakes. The thing that made them good is for the red velvet cupcakes below, we filled them with a raspberry Danish dessert, and that I added a cup of frozen raspberries to the Danish dessert.

Topped with a chocolate frosting and white chocolate stormtrooper mask.

How to make the mask. We went online to amazon.com and order a set of Star Wars silicone ice cube trays.

We melted the white chocolate and put it in the trays and then put them in the fridge for 20 minutes until it had hardened enough to maintain shape. We also bought 2-inch glow sticks on amazon.com and broke them to make our mini lightsabers.

Star Wars Cupcakes

Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients
1 stick of butter softened
4 to 6 cups of powder sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

1. Mix all the ingredients together. The more powder sugar you add the harder the frosting will be. If it is too hard it will be hard to pipe on. If you do make it too hard you can add more butter or whipping cream.

The Jedi cupcakes below, a green velvet cupcake filled with vanilla pudding and a vanilla frosting. To make my Yoda ears I made gum paste.

Which you can buy the powder to mix your own at Walmart or you can make it already made at Walmart as well. The perks to using gum paste over fondant is that it dries harder and faster than fondant.

We cut triangles and then curled them and pinched them at the bottom.

Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients
1 stick of butter softened
4 to 5 cups of powder sugar
2 tablespoons whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
1. Mix all the ingredients together. The more powder sugar you add the harder the frosting will be. If it is too hard it will be hard to pipe on. If you do make it too hard you can add more butter or whipping cream.
2. This recipe will frost about 8 to 12 cupcakes based on how thick you frost it.

  1. These are seriously so awesome! I am a huge Star Wars fan so I love your cupcakes. Think my husband wil run for the hills if I make these (not a SW fan)….but he wil marry me all over again if I made Terminator cupcakes, lol!

  2. Hi Cassie. We're huge Star Wars fans and we are looking forward to seeing the new movie. I'm sure my son would love these cupcakes. Thanks so much for sharing at Thriving on Thursdays. I'm featuring this one at tomorrow's party. Always great to see the Lou Lou Girls at the party.

  4. Well that is a different idea for young ladies but in an awesome fun way. Glad they worked out, it looks like they are lucky to have a great cupcake baker and decorator. Thanks again for sharing at Welcome Home Wednesdays.
