Amlactin Winter Skin

We live in Utah with the greatest snow on earth. It gets cold in October and it stays cold until the end of March at times. The worst part about being cold is your skin tends to dry out. I coach softball for a high school in the spring and it is cold usually until the end of our season. My assistant coach is constantly telling everyone to moisturize, which is very smart, here is what happens in the cold weather to your skin.

When it gets to winter time the air outside is cold and dry, and then the water in your skin evaporates more quickly. Leaving you with dry, tight and flaky skin. Windy weather can dry out your skin even more and our school is in the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, you know, where all the windmills are?! My skin constantly is needing moisture and I have some tips for you to combat the dry flaky skin. AmLactin has been a lifesaver with a variety of different products that work famously. Here’s how I use AmLactin to make my skin glow in the winter.

#1 – Lotion & Protective Clothing
When you go outside protect your skin by wearing protective clothing, gloves and scarves to shield from the elements. Often times we think that since we are wearing all that clothing we don’t need to moisturize before hand. Don’t skip the lotion or your skin will be dry and itchy. I don’t know about you but I hate when my elbows are so dry that they catch on my clothing and it hurts.  Their product AmLactin Cerapeutic Restoring Body Lotion is great for repairing extremely rough, flaky and dry skin!

#2 – Shorter hot showers and baths and lotion –
When I get home from a particularly cold day at practice or game, I want a hot bath to warm me up! I could lay in a hot bath for hours! I feel like I get so cold I can’t ever warm up. Well, bad idea, try to limit your baths to 10 minutes, just enough to clean up. Pat dry, don’t rub and use a soft towel. The hot water and soaking can strip your skin of it’s protective oils. Make sure you lotion with a rich body lotion like Amlactin right when you get out of the shower to lock in the moisture. You can find more dry skin care tips from AmLactin here.

#3 – Carry Lotion –
I am also a science teacher and we did a dissection last week and I had to wash my hands several times a class period just to stay sanitary. My hands were like alligator hands, luckily I keep lotion in my classroom and office at all times. You never know when you will need it!

It’s important to make sure you use a rich lotion that contains alpha-hydroxy acids.  Alpha-hydroxy acids have the amazing ability to help you retain moisture. The lotion I use is AmLactin. It’s the #1 moisturizer brand recommended by dermatologists for rough, dry skin, which I felt like I always had before I got this lotion. It’s fragrance free, non-greasy and long lasting. Worth every penny!
