Ranch Roast

Ranch Roast!
Nothing in this world beats good roast beef. When I was little, that was the best part of going to grandma’s house on Sunday. She had this roasting pan, we were all sure that’s what made her roast taste so good! We’d eat her leftovers from dinner and it was the best.
Since, then I have tried to duplicate grandma’s amazing recipe. I think this one is better! Sorry grandma, I love you! Not only did this recipe make an awesome gravy that you could practically drink, but the meat was SO good! It was tender and flavorful! I could have sworn your meat had to have a ton of fat to give it flavor, not so! This was seriously the best meat you could eat.
The company that makes this amazing meat is called Jones Creek Beef. They are a local company out of good ole’ Springville, Utah. This family company produces grass-fed beef! If you are in Utah County they sell their beef at Walmart and Smiths. If not, you can go to their website and find where they sell their beef close to you! Their site is www.jonescreekbeef.com, you also can find more recipes on their. Also, the owner was recently featured on Good Things Utah! Check out their site! Meanwhile, try this recipe that they gave me to try!

Pot Roast
1 (1 oz) Package Dry Hidden Valley Original Salad Dressing Mix
1 (1 oz) Package Au Jus Gravy Mix
2 cups of water

1. Pull the beef out of the freezer 24 hours prior to cooking, allow to thaw in the fridge. This makes your roast more tender and flavorful. DON’T SKIP THIS STEP!
2.  Place in crockpot, dump the ranch and au jus packets on top of the roast and pour in the water.
3. Cook on high for 1 hour (while you get ready to go). Then turn down and cook on low for 5 hours!
4. We made potatoes so I took the drippings, created a roux out of cold milk and cornstarch and whisked into the simmering drippings until it was to our preferred thickness. Matt LOVED this gravy!
