The Ups and Downs of Pregnancy

From the first positive pregnancy test, most women can’t wait to tell the world the good news. It’s such an exciting time, knowing that a new life is growing and developing inside of you.
It’s not long though, before your body starts changing and pregnancy symptoms start showing up. Everyone and every pregnancy is so different. This is my 7th pregnancy, and 4th baby, so I have a little experience with being pregnant.
In the first trimester, around 7-8 weeks into my pregnancies I start feeling queasy and nauseas.  I spend a lot of time on the couch resting and even more time trying to find foods to eat that I can actually keep down.There’s also a lot of worry that accompanies the first trimester. I can’t feel the baby move yet, so I’m always worried that the baby isn’t okay. Since I’ve had 3 miscarriages, I know it’s possible that everything won’t work out, and I just try to stay calm and positive.
Then the second trimester begins.  It’s a glorious time! Around 20 weeks, I’ve always found out the sex of my babies, and that seems to make everything feel real! The nausea starts to calm down and all my energy returns! YAY! I always feel like a rock star during the second trimester. My belly is big enough to tell that there’s a baby in there, but still small enough to move around comfortably. The baby starts kicking hard enough to feel and I can start relaxing a little about whether the baby is growing and developing, although I’ll admit, I never really stop worrying.

Then comes the third trimester, I start feeling large and in charge. The baby pushes down on all of my vital organs making it harder to move around and breathe at night. Heartburn starts getting ferocious, making it harder to sleep. And because I can’t sleep at night, I start sleeping more during the day. Naps are great!

My feet start swelling, especially in this HOT weather,  and I develop pregnancy mask on my face. I don’t feel super cute, but the baby is kicking a lot now, so I’m more relaxed and getting more and more excited for her arrival every day.

Luckily for me, I’ve found some new products that can help me feel better during my pregnancy. They’re specifically made with pregnant women in mind. Which takes some of the guess work out of trying to find a product that will work and be safe for me during my pregnancy.

I love that it’s free of artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives, gluten, caffeine and high fructose corn syrup! It has ginger, protein, B-vitamins, electrolytes, and  fiber to help prevent occasional constipation.  I found  it in Target in the feminine hygiene section.

Of course, you should always consult your doctor before taking any new medicine, but I love that these are made specifically for pregnant and new mamas in mind.
