It started out like this…plain and boring, crack in the wood, kind of dirty, and had no handles on the drawers….so Mom got busy!

She cleaned it all up and filled in some large cracks and lightly sanded it….only because it was in bad shape and she wanted to make sure you couldn’t see the crack filler…she wanted it to be nice and smooth.

Normally when you use chalk paint you don’t have to do a thing to prep your piece of furniture except to wipe it down..that’s why I love using Annie Sloan Chalk paint it is soo easy to use!

After she painted the piece…mom decided to add the silver handles…which I think really makes the piece look beautiful! It took two coats of paint because this piece was old and had never been refinished before.

Mom loves all things French so she accessorized her newly painted hutch with a few French items she had around the house.

The blue and yellow plates really makes this piece pop!

Recently we did a makeover in her bedroom and painted most of her furniture with some Annie Sloan chalkpaint in grey and WOW what a huge difference it made! Stop by and check out all the pieces we painted and how it all came together.

I also did a makeover on a lampshade for her room to bring in a little “French” feminine look to the bedroom
