We love a good steak in these parts and, most of the time, I feel like we do it better than our favorite restaurants do! Mike, my hubby, considers himself to be the ULTIMATE Grill Master. He has graciously given us his tips for a juicy, perfectly seasoned steak! 1- Choose a good cut of meat. I prefer a rib eye, and Mike prefers a NY strip steak. The Rib eye has more fat marbled throughout, which makes it juicier (in my opinion), and the NY strip steak has less fat, but Mike thinks it’s better in flavor. Either of these are a good choice! 2- Season your steak with a great rub. We prefer this steak seasoning. It’s available at your local Associated Food Store in the meat section. 3-Let your meat come to room temperature before grilling. This prevents the meat from seizing up and becoming tough once it hits a searing hot grill. 4- Get your grill as hot as possible before throwing your steaks on. This ensures that you get good grill lines and the steak will sear, keeping the juices in. 5- Use the hand test to check for doneness. I found this image online to demonstrate. We prefer ours to be medium rare, but you can cook it as long as you like! Medium rare takes about 3-4 minutes on each side. After you have a good sear on each side, compare the feel of your steak to your hand to test for doneness…is that a word? Image Source Good luck my friends! Jessica
