Waffle Love Copy Cat Recipe
For those of you who don’t already know Waffle Love is a craze going around Utah and Salt Lake Counties. They have a truck that travels here and there and you can follow them on facebook and instagram and if you don’t want to wait for them to come
near you, then they just got a new store in Provo. They are very expensive,
delicious waffles!

My husband absolutely spoiled me for Valentine’s Day! The main thing I gave him
was a little Waffle Love. He had never tried it and so I thought I’d give him a
little taste. Now, I know that it was a little crazy since these waffles are
super rich and technically should be a dessert. Nevertheless I was determined!
Here is what we did and we thought it tasted quite good!! We had them for
dinner too! Just so you know, they were awesome!! First thing you should know is
these are not your regular waffles, instead of batter, they are made from a dough, that
needs to rise. I was shocked! Also, you need special sugar (there are is a lot
of sugar in these) Belgian pearl sugar. I got my sugar online at but
just so you know it is quite expensive for how much sugar you get.

            1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1.Add the 2 teaspoons of sugar to the milk and water and add the yeast, stirring to
combine. Allow the yeast to proof, or get foamy and puffy.
2.In a stand mixer, beat together the butter and sugars and then add the eggs, honey
and vanilla. Stir together and add the yeast mixture.
3.Then switch to the dough hook and add 2 cups of flour. Mix until the dough is
thoroughly incorporated, and add the remaining flour, cover with plastic wrap
and allow to rest for 4 hours, up to 24 hours.
4. Then punch down and separate into 8 balls. Then knead in pearl sugar. Which was
more difficult than you would think. Matt and I knead the sugar in for a very
long time before we got it to stick and stay in the dough.
5. Place on a hot, greased waffle iron. Cook until golden brown and serve with
Nutella, whipped cream and fresh berries.

To make a good whipped topping that is not too sweet, make your own. 3 cups of whipping cream, 3-5 tablespoons of powdered sugar or until desired sweetness. Whip in stand mixer with whisk until it forms peaks which is 3-5 minutes.

  1. My husband would really like these waffles! This looks like a great idea for next year's Valentine's Day. I'm a bit intimidated by making waffles out of dough, but it looks like it's worth a shot! Thank you for sharing on the Fancy This Fridays link-up 🙂

  2. Well, these look FANTASTIC! Copy-cat or 'original' ~ sometimes it is hard to discern the difference as we are all part of the collective conscious and inspired by each other. Whip cream + strawberries + chocolate + any kind of sweet dough = a winner!

  3. My goodness this looks so good! I love waffles and these would be a great dessert waffle. then you add whipped cream, strawberries and chocolate, whoa, dessert heaven. Thanks for sharing the recipe and for sharing at Sunday's Best!
