Don’t boil eggs without me!
To keep eggs from cracking, add two tablespoons of white vinegar per quart of water before you boil. Your cooked eggs will stay intact and be easy to peel.
I’ll stamp out that stinky fish smell.
Next time you’re cooking fish or cooking something equally stinky, like cabbage, place a small bowl of vinegar next to the stove, it will absorb the odor.
I can unclog your tub drain.
The fizzing combo of vinegar and baking soda is a great way to clear out the drain. First, you need to pour 1/2 cup of baking soda in the drain, then follow with a mixture of 1 cup vinegar and 1 cup of hot water. Immediately plug the drain with a rag to keep the bubbles contained for about 10 minutes. Rinse by pouring a kettle of boiling water down the drain.
Sticky stuff? No big deal!
When you have a price tag or another sticker that leaves a gluey residue. Dab the spot with vinegar. Then wipe the goo right off!

Before you put on that fabulous polish, wipe your clean nails with white vinegar. It removes natural oils from the nails so the polish will stick better. It also prevents chipping!
Never use vinegar to……..
- Scrub grout around ceramic tile. The vinegar’s acidity can etch the grout away.
- Wipe down marble or granite countertops. Use a gentler cleaner to avoid corroding the stone.
- Clean your waxed wood. It can ruin the finish.
- Degrease a cast iron or aluminum pan. Vinegar can erode metals.
