There are so many cute countdown ideas and I keep telling my kids that I’m going to try something new, but my kids have vetoed that idea. I have been doing this since my older kids were little. My Ben even wanted me to make him one after he was married and was really upset that he needed to let go of this tradition. The great thing about this, is that you can start it any day in December and it only takes a few minutes to throw together.
This is all you need to make your countdown. I let my kids choose what candy they want. I used ribbon that I already had and any plastic wrap will do.
Spread the plastic wrap on the floor, you will need to decide how long by how many days you will be doing. Lay the candy in the middle of the wrap and then fold the sides over the candy. Cut your ribbon, I usually cut the ribbon into 3 to 4 inch pieces. They are long but it makes it easier to tie and you can trim them if they look funny.
I hang them by the kids stockings and then they can cut off a piece each day. It’s so fun to watch the string of candy shrink through the days before Christmas.
