In the morning, I watch the local news and they always show things that are going on around the state. A new place is opening up in Utah County that is featuring Italian Hot Chocolate. I’m always looking for a new idea and it’s always fun to make it at home. I made this yummy hot chocolate for Lisa and Gracie. It was so good that Lisa wanted more that evening! It’s really thick, so you will want to serve it in small serving sizes. What a fun thing to make after a day in the snow or even on Christmas morning!
1 ½ cups half and half
1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
4 to 5 Tablespoons sugar (this depends on how sweet you like it)
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
· In a bowl, combine the half and half with the cornstarch, whisking until smooth. It is important that there are no lumps.
· In a saucepan over a medium heat, place the half and half. Bring to a simmer. When the half and half begins to bubble around the edges whisk in the sugar.
· Whisk the cornstarch mixture until it thickens slightly, usually it takes less than a minute.
· Remove from the heat and quickly whisk in the chocolate until very smooth.
