Girl’s Pink and Green Diva Bedroom

Lisa had decided that she had out grown the horse theme room that she has had for the past 3 years. She has been begging for a makeover for over a year and we agreed we would tackle this project this summer. She decided that she wanted a hot pink and lime green room and I won’t lie, I was a little nervous how it would turn out.
We started with her lamp. We purchased this lamp at Wal-Mart for about $9.00 for each piece.
We used the paint that we were going to use on the walls and painted the base of the lamp. We found the cute trim for the lamp shade in the fabric section of Wal-Mart and hot glued it to the shade. You can find the rhinestones in any craft section. The lamps we looked at in Hobby Lobby, cost around $50.00 to $75.00. This was around $35.00.
Lisa’s chest of drawers was starting to look pretty rough and worn out. We lightly sanded it and used the paint that we used for the walls on the drawers. It is a semi-gloss paint and we found out afterwards that we should of used a oil base paint. We did cover it with a lacquer finish and it seems to be doing well. The pulls we found at Lowe’s.
In the spirit of the Diva room, we had to have a chandelier! I looked in the classifies for a used one but they were more money than buying a new one. This one was $99 from Amazon. It was easy to install and fits perfectly in the room.
We found the cutest pictures at Hobby Lobby that just put the finishing touches to the room. Hobby Lobby has a coupon that you can use that is on your phone and it will give you 40% on one item. They also have a great selection of clearance items that are adorable! The Love picture was originally $49.99 but we bought it for $15.99.
The little drawers was something that we had inherited from a friend and a little paint made it a new piece. We painted 3 walls the lime green and one the hot pink! We found this fun top coat paint at Wal-Mart that has glitter(its a Disney brand paint)! You can really see it well and it adds to the room. Everyone comments on the glitter!

Lisa has wanted a canopy FOREVER! I was going to try to make one but found this canopy on Amazon for $24. I think it would be hard to beat that price by trying to make it myself. I also found her bedspread, bed skirt, pillow sham and valance for the window at Amazon for $99.
We painted her shelf and added ribbon and rhinestones to jazz it up!
The cute little piggy bank was purchased at Wal-Mart for under $10. She loves how her room turned out and I think its a perfect tween room for my girl. It always helps me to find a picture or bedspread at the beginning of the project and then everything seems to fall into place. Go wild! Color is fun and different furniture pieces add character to your room!

  1. What a cute job you did! Your daughter must be thrilled and want to never leave her room. I love the canopy – so pretty. I love the Idea of mixing some re painted pieces with some new things.
