Cronut with Vanilla Pudding Filling (croissant + donut)

My son Zac, was reading a article that was talking about how people are taking two words and making them into one word. When he came across the cronut! The article talked about how this is all the craze in New York. So, of course, we had to try it! The difference from the regular donut is the inside……….its so flaky and light in texture!

We found a easy way to make this yummy goodness!
You start with your favorite brand of crescent rolls.
Lay the dough on a greased surface and press seams together.
Fold the dough over.
Fold over, once again and pat the dough, so it will seal and form together.
Use a cookie cutter,or a lid to cut out the Cronut.
I have found that using a prescription pill bottle makes the best hole maker.
Make sure your cooking oil is on a low heat. You want them to cook for a long time, so they aren’t gooey in the middle! Once they are out of the heat and cooled, slice them in half and fill them with your favorite filling. We used vanilla pudding but they would be great as a savory sandwich.
Drizzle the glaze on top with the vanilla glaze and you can sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar for the finishing touch!
Vanilla Glaze: In a bowl, mix 2 cups powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla together and 1 cup milk. Whisk together until smooth.
Cinnamon Sugar: In a bowl combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
Lemon Glaze: Combine 2 cups powder sugar, juice of one lemon and half of the lemon zest. Whisk together until smooth, glaze like consistency. Leave some lemon for garnish.
They are so Good!
