DIY Patriotic Flag

DIY Patriotic Flag

DIY Patriotic Flag! I love the red, white and blue! I usually wait to get my Patriotic décor out until closer to the 4th of July, but this year, I just couldn’t wait. It feels so appropriate to show how proud you are to be an American and it’s just so darn cute! This project is so super simple but I’m so in love with my ping pong flag.

This project is brought to you by cheap ping pong balls from the Dollar Store and spray paint. I have a love affair with spray paint because it’s so easy to use and can transform almost anything into a masterpiece.

This is what you will need:

12 to 15 packs of ping pong balls, depending on your frame

Old chalkboard or frame

Red Spray paint ( I use Rust-oleum because it seems to cover the best)

Blue craft paint

White chalk marker

hot glue gun

painter’s tape

paintbrush

First, I laid my ping pong balls on an old cookie sheet. Honestly, this is the best way I could think to paint them but you might know a better way to do it, so they will stay in place. If you can’t find the ping pong balls at your local dollar store, they do have them at Walmart for just a little more money.

Spray the one side of the ball, and let dry and then repeat on the other side. Be patient, it takes about a half-hour to dry completely. I’m NOT patient!

I had an old chalkboard that I wasn’t using and that is what I used for my base, if decide to use a picture frame make sure it has something solid for the base of your flag. Then by using a piece of paper, decide how big you want the blue section of your flag. Tape of the section with painter’s tape.

Apply the blue paint to the designated section with your paintbrush and then let dry. Pull off the tape.

Once the glue gun is hot, start gluing the ping pong balls to the base. Continue this step until the frame is full.

You could get prepared stars for your flag but I used my chalkboard marker and love the look!
